Get Rid of Head Lice The Natural Way

The problem with head lice is that when one person in the house gets it, everyone else has to, too. Now chemical treatments like permethrin may never have been effective against nits – the eggs of head lice. But at least, they were effective against the lice themselves. These days, even though head lice seem to be resistant to these chemicals. That’s what you get for upping the chemical warfare too much. Perhaps it’s time to try getting rid of head lice the natural way.

Let’s start with prevention, first. It’s always a good idea to start preventive measures since most lice attacks spread among children at school, it would be a good idea to treat your children’s hair with tea tree oil just to repel lice should they decide to try to call your child’s head home. It’s simple enough. You just have to put a few drops of tea tree oil in a cup of warm water, dip a comb in it and then comb through your child’s hair.

Hair Lice Treatments

Since chemical hair lice treatments don’t really work as well these days as they used to, head lice salons have become a regular feature across cities in America. These places charge hundreds of dollars to go through your hair by hand. Treatment takes hours.

It’s quite doable, getting rid of head lice naturally right at home is. You would be surprised how much can be done with harmless essential oils. The first thing you want to do is to soothe your itchy scalp. You can do that with a mixture of unscented body lotion in a few drops of lavender, eucalyptus oil and geranium oils. Massage this refreshing mixture into your scalp, let it stand for a half hour, and then comb through your hair with a fine tooth comb.

Once you’re done, you just need to rinse your hair in a mixture that you make with a few drops of rosemary, geranium, eucalyptus and lavender oils makes in 4 teaspoons of vinegar in some water. Once you rinse your hair in this, you just need to towel dry.

If this doesn’t work, try using ground up seeds of the herb Nigella Sativa – a kitchen Herb from the East. Just grind the seeds up, mix in and with apple cider vinegar, and let the lice have it.

Homeopathy has some pretty effective ways of getting rid of head lice too. Pregnant women especially should try it.

Head lice has been around for many centuries, and it doesn’t show any signs of disappearing any time soon, so finding a head lice removal treatment makes life more pleasant. Head lice is nowhere near life treating, although it can make your head itch like crazy. There are millions of cases of head lice cases in the United States, mostly found in school aged children, so if you or your child is diagnosed with head lice there is no need to worry about it. You can go to any store and get a special medicine for the scalp and by following a few easy steps you will be successful at removing head lice.

How To Know If You Have Head Lice

When you are diagnosing yourself or someone else with head lice you are most commonly looking for nits or lice eggs. These little white egg sacks are found about two inches from the scalp and clinging to the hair. Eggs are easier to spot than the lice itself because lice blend into your hair more. Because nits are so tiny it would be easier for you to search for them in broad day light. Once you have diagnosed the issue you can begin your head lice removal program. Removing head lice is an easy process, which only takes a few nights to complete. That way within a few nights you or your child will be back to normal before you know it.

How To Treat Head Lice

Head lice removal is fairly cheap and easy to do. There are two effective ways to eliminate the lice; you can either purchase over the counter removal kits which explain the process of removing the lice. They also include the useful tools for removing nits, which even after you have gotten rid of the head lice you will need to use. However, there is a cheaper method of removing lice. You can use olive oil to suffocate the lice, or you can warm a towel in the dryer for up to a half an hour and wrap it around your head. The heat should kill the lice and nits.

After you have killed off all of the lice you will want to remove the nits by hand, or with the fine nit-picking comb that you received in your head lice removal kit. Removing the nits are a very important step in removing the head lice. By removing the adult lice you will prevent new lice being born. If your child has lice, it is important to remove the nits because most schools have a no-nit policy, which means if your child has lice, they will not be able to return to school until the nits have been removed. Even after you have removed the lice you will want to continue to look for nits to ensure that you or your child will not be affected by head lice again. Head lice removal is easy, and cheap to treat.

.

Once you get rid of head lice, the next thing you need to know is how to prevent them from coming back, but this can often be a tricky proposition. The brown or black parasites that live on our scalps are known as head lice. The most common age group to be affected by head lice are children from the age’s of four to ten, usually young school age children, although there is no guarantee that older people will not get head lice. There is actually no way to prevent head lice because you may not be able to avoid coming in contact with someone who is infested.

Looking for head lice in children is a lot harder than having to search an adult, they also have no way of telling they have head lice and have no idea how to prevent transfer. Having head to head contact is one of the most common ways to get head lice. If you are sharing personal things such as brushes, combs, hats and pillows that an infected person has used you can also become infested. In order to prevent head lice from spreading not only the parents but also the teachers need to watch kids carefully. Even after you have effectively eliminated all of the lice and nits, it is still possible to get lice again.

Preventing Lice from Recurring

Preventing head lice from recurring is actually quite easy, when you know which <a href="http://haircareandtreatments.com/category/hair-care/"title="Hair Care" >hair care and treatments work and which ones do not. If you are able to tell that your child has a case of head lice it is best to isolate the child and keep them home.

You also want to warn children of what will happen if they use other people’s brushes, combs, hats and other personal belongings. By teaching the child those dangers you not only prevent the infestation of head lice, but you also teach proper hygiene. Not only can you receive head lice by using other people’s brushes or combs, but you can also transfer other conditions or sicknesses.

Get Everyone Involved

When preventing head lice from spreading, not only teachers need to be involved but also the parents. You should never let your child go to school with an active infestation. By keeping your child home you reduce the risk of having the lice recur in your child’s classmates. If you are a teacher you need to be well aware of the signs of head lice and you should also report any cases to the child’s parents and school faculty.

Preventing lice is easy, and requires both the parents and school to follow procedures. By following these steps you will be able to get rid of head lice that your child might have, but preventing head lice from returning again.

The next time you have to deal with lice, consider natural remedies for head lice removal and get rid of them for good. If you’ve ever struggled with head lice, you know how frustrating it can be to deal with. You try treatment after treatment and still, you find that your lice keep coming back. Pesticides are no fun to use and pesticidal shampoos can be harsh on the scalp, so what are you supposed to do to get rid of these horrible pests.

You might find that natural remedies are the best <a href="http://haircareandtreatments.com/category/hair-care-treatments/head-lice-treatment/"title="Head Lice Treatment" >head lice treatments for your problem so that you can get rid of the bugs and itchy head and get back to normal.

What Can You Do For Head Lice Removal

1.	You’re going to want to wash everything you can in hot water, but don’t be surprised if this doesn’t even work for you. If it doesn’t, it’s time to smother the little guys. Take all your bedding and pillows, as well as anything else that you think might have bugs in it and put them in a garbage bag. Tie it tightly and let it sit for up to two weeks, because if lice cannot find a human host in two weeks, it will die on its own.

2.	Check everyone in the home. If someone is not affected, add tea tree oil to their shampoo and keep using it until all the lice are gone from the home. Tea tree can help prevent lice from infecting people because they don’t like the smell.

3.	You might also find that treating the head with a combination of olive oil and tea tree oil and covering it with plastic wrap for up to two hours. This has the effect of smothering lice. When you shampoo out, make sure to comb through for any eggs that you might have left behind, because this is how many people wind up getting lice again, even after it looks as if they are clean.

4.	Another common natural remedy, which is a last ditch effort for many is to put something such as Vaseline on the scalp to smother lice. You should know that this is very hard to wash out, but it has been shown to be effective. So if you cannot get rid of your lice problem, this is one great head lice removal tactic.

More and more people are being left frustrated when they have to deal with a case of lice that will not go away. Instead of using harmful pesticides, consider using products which are more natural and safe to put on the head and skin of everyone in the family if necessary. Remember that if you or your child does come down with a case of lice, it doesn’t mean you’re unclean and it doesn’t mean that you will never get rid of it, but it is essential to treat this problem as soon as you can with some of the natural remedies that are available.

Head lice are parasites that can be found on our heads and although they are not able to spread disease, they spread from one head to another very easily. Head lice is most common among children because they tend to stand so close together and share hair brushes, clothing and other items that can transfer head lice.

Head lice infection is very common and it has been estimated that up to one in every ten children in school acquires head lice at some time.

How to Kill Head Lice

Now that you know a bit more about head lice and what sort of a problem it is, you will need to be aware of how to kill head lice. Of course prevention is the best method but if your child gets infected with head lice you are going to need to learn how to kill head lice and take care of it before it becomes more of a problem.

The process of killing head lice is one that is often very frustrating and time-consuming. If you want to know how to kill head lice, know that the first thing you will need to do is treat the child’s head with lice shampoo. There are several types of this shampoo available, but they are all quite effective.

After shampooing you need to comb the child’s hair with a nit comb because the lice shampoo is only able to kill live lice and not their eggs. You are literally going to have to go through your child’s hair strand by strand, making sure that you get every single nit. They look a bit like dandruff, only with dandruff you can shake it off whereas nits will stick to the hair shaft and cannot be brushed or rubbed off.

If you want to know how to kill head lice, the next step is to saturate your child’s hair with olive oil. Make sure that you only do this once you are sure that you have removed all of the nits, or at least as many as you could see. When olive oil is left in the hair it will smother any lice and nits that may have survived the shampoo.

You should continue checking for lice and nits even after this entire process, because it can be difficult to make sure that you have removed every single lice and nit from the hair and therefore you need to be sure that you catch any that survived as soon as possible, before the entire head is infested all over again.

There is nothing worse for a lot of people then thinking about having to deal with head lice as many people think that these pesky little bugs just never die. But the fact is that the head lice life span is not that long at all and once removed from their host, the human, they live only a few hours to a few days in most cases. The individual head lice life span is not that long but it is the problem of hundreds and possibly thousands of head lice eggs and bugs that are the problem. It is just like cockroaches, if you spot one there are hundred more that you do not see.

Since head lice breed so fast and reproduce all the time, there are going to be several stages of head lice on any one head. This means the head lice life span could wear off or you could remove everything living on a daily basis but you will still find more each day. This is because more than likely head lice are going to be hatching on a daily basis. While this may seem like the head lice life span, as an infestation is a never-ending cycle, it is a battle that you can win with patience. Picking out eggs and head lice every single day without fail is the best way to resolve the problem of headlice life re-infesting your hair.

Seeking Support Does Help

If you are new to dealing with the head lice life span, this can be a frustrating and lonely time. Those around you will feel uncomfortable coming near you and you really cannot blame them at all. And for those who do not understand head lice at all, they may assume that you are unclean and that you do not take care of your home. This is simply not the case because head lice attack the clean, the unclean, the rich and the poor all the same. Head lice do not discriminate nor do they prefer a certain type of person to another. Anything that says otherwise is false and is nothing more then a myth.

There are a lot of people reaching out to one another through the Internet so this is a place that you can turn to for support and help. A lot of people have gone through the battle with the head lice life span and they may be able to offer you advice and support for what you are dealing with. Also, once you have solved the problem in your own home, it is an excellent place to share what you did in order to help others seeking help and advice. So getting help and support is very important because doing it alone can be very hard.

The first clues that give away the presence of head lice is not itchiness, as is commonly thought. It’s finding black specks on your fingertips and under your fingers whenever you either run them through your hair or do manage to give the odd scratch as you would normally do throughout the course of the day. Those black specks are head lice droppings. You might also find these smudged on your pillow if you never scratch your head.

The next clue will be in the hair that you normally shed. The strands will not just consist of hair. Somewhere along the strand, usually about halfway down, is a teardrop-shaped hard round thing. That thing is a head lice egg. Don’t just let the strand of hair drop onto the floor. Throw it in the trash or burn it.

Then your head starts to really itch. You can’t help but scratch, even though you know the head lice will be waving at you from underneath your fingernails as a result. Things are really bad when you see the adult louses crawling down the strands of your hair.

Getting Rid Of Lice

Head lice are one of the easier itchy conditions you can successfully treat. Put all of your bedding and sleepwear into the dryer (washing isn’t necessary) and run them through for ten minutes. That’s all it will take to kill the eggs laying about. You also need to go buy and use a nit comb and over the counter head lice medications, which do a good job killing your tiny hitch hikers. Have everyone in your family use it.

Head lice are not dangerous and do not spread disease but they are a problem and can be a very frustrating and annoying problem to deal with. If you have children you are going to want to learn how to kill head lice even if they do not have it, because they could sooner or later.

Though lice are very small they can be seen by the naked eye, and so if you ever see your child scratching their head or having an itchy scalp, you are going to want to give their hair a once over to see if there are any lice or nits on the scalp or in the hair. The lice are the size of sesame seeds and are a brownish tan color. They can survive for up to three days off the scalp.

The nits or lice eggs are yellow or tan in color before they hatch and after hatching turn to a white or clear color. You will notice that the nits look somewhat like dandruff, only with dandruff you can brush it off and it will fall off whereas nits will stick to the hair shaft and cannot be brushed or rubbed off.

One of the most common symptoms you will notice in a child with head lice is small red bumps or sores, which they develop from scratching. For some kids the irritation will be mild whereas with others it will result in a bothersome rash that is very noticeable.

When it comes to learning how to kill head lice there are a few different routes you can take. To kill head lice you basically have two options.

1. To use the commercial products available or
2. Natural remedies that are available.

It is more important when you are dealing with children because you may not want to use harsh chemicals on them as you would on yourself.

To kill head lice, if you want to use a lice shampoo, all you need to do is wash the child’s head with it as you would with regular shampoo, and make sure that it is all rinsed out. You may also want to use vinegar with this shampoo to ensure that all the lice and nits are killed.

On the other hand if you want to use home remedies to kill head lice, there are also a few very effective options you can try. Mayonnaise has proven to be effective at killing head lice, as has vinegar, but it may take a bit of trial and error for you to find something that works.
